National Champ, Amp Camp, and upcoming Fitness Revolution

My last blog post way in MAY!? So much has happened since then, and is continuing to happen, I think it is due time for some UPDATES. Like, a month later I turned 25 and survived the whole idea of a “quarter life crisis” which is pretty cool.

Basically, this is what 25 looks like.

So after my last post I kept training through the season and although I had plenty of variables changing my training this season, I have to say I was pretty pleased with how this soft year has finished out at the national level. 2014 brought home a gold medal in the long jump and a silver in the 100m. I’ll take it!

After US Paralympic National Champs, we sped over the state to Sacramento for my team mates’ races at their USA Outdoor National Champs, which also had plenty of ups and downs, but overall I’m proud of my dudes. I was able to visit the Ottobock Mobility office in Sacramento and learn a lot about wheelchair production, and meet some of the faces that make it all happen.

It was a cool little tour!

July has already proven to be a super busy month, and already has been going a million miles an hour. I have already gone out to Cleveland for a quick family reunion, which was hilarious and totally awesome.

Now I am headed back for one of the best weeks of my life, Amp Camp! I leave Friday and am positively excited to share that experience once again with some new and old friends. I have been on the camp committee now for a couple years, and it’s always fun to see it come to fruition.

As soon as I fly home I repack and then head out to Charleston, South Carolina for our second Ottobock Fitness Revolution July 24-26. There, we will have a few cool but informative presentations on sport-specific prostheses as well as a trial day for WAKEBOARDING (cool) on the ProCarve system. The 26th I will be hosting my first running clinic with the 3s80 Sport Prosthetic Knee and the Ottobock Sprinter Foot.  I’m super excited to get some sun and get people active with us! Hopefully I will find times to sneak away and post from camp next week, but that is everything new and exciting in my life in a nutshell for now! Summer is totally crazy fun!
